OK, I'm not trying to make this a thing, you know? But when you look at that sandwich, do you see the little wooden skewer through the top bread? I don't. In fact, when I look back at the photo, I see the little wooden skewer in the sandwich. Like in it in it. In the middle of it. In it.
Of course, I see the skewer in the sandwich only after I got home and looked at the photo. But you can imagine my surprise when I get three bites into this thing and, BOOP, there's a stick in my mouth.
And believe me, I debated taking this to the people at Trailhead Cafe. Like I didn't get hurt, why make a thing of it? But I did because somebody's got to tell them they have sticks in their ham.
I went up to the counter and I kept my voice down and told the very nice lady, "Hey, I'm not trying to make a thing out of this but you might want to check your ham for sticks." Which, yes, I know sounds ridiculous.
At which point, she explains to me that that's just the skewer that goes through the top and I tell her, oh, no, this was in the middle, and she looks aghast and a very exasperated-sounding chef behind her explains that he doesn't use the skewers with the plastic frilly things because they get plastic everywhere or something but he thanks me for alerting him to mumble mumble mumble.
OK.
I guess.
Anyway, this was a twelve dollar ham & Swiss with mayo, dijon, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a fucking stick on a broetchen. It came with a pickle in the wrapper you usually get egg rolls in, just without the lady playing the flute on it. That was kind of cool.
I should have gotten their seven dollar hotdog.
Anyway, Google Maps says this is Golden Valley, USPS says this is Minneapolis. I'm going to tag it in Golden Valley and in the Willard-Hay neighborhood, marking our first entry for Willard-Hay.

That's the Jalpeño Ranch Cheeseburger. I got it because... I don't know, I just did. There weren't any sticks in it. It was a Friday so I get a free any-size fry in the app with a five dollar purchase. This was like six bucks so... Uh, yeah. I don't know. It's fucking Wendy's, man.

This is the eight dollar Pesto Smoked Gouda, listed as sundried tomato, egg, smoked gouda, and pesto on a croissant, English muffin, or a bagel. I opted for the croissant. The menu tells you that it's vegetarian, I'm assuming, because you could be easily convinced that this has some kind of meat on it. I mean I had to keep looking at it because I thought big homie slipped some bacon in there. But, no, it's vegetarian, which is fine. I like vegetarian food. My only complaint is that there wasn't nearly enough pesto on it. Like there needs to be pesto on both slices of bread and schmeared between the tomato and egg and then put in a little cup for me to dip the sandwich in.
But it's a seven dollar sandwich in the skyway, what do I really expect? I'm just happy there weren't any fucking sticks in it.
