After dwelling the skyways for years, you get kind of burnt the fuck out on what's there and you feel uninspired to get anything for lunch.
And then you remember: There's that one place that you pass in the winter every morning and every evening and it's always closed when you do. It's got those lunch hours.
So, after years of watching this place get set up in the spot where Subway used to be, you finally head off down to the TCF building to get a chicken tikka masala "indurrito" (I know) from Hot Indian Foods.
Let's make this an easy one because I have to get back to work in fifteen minutes.
I know this sounds like yesterday's review but, for real, if you've had chicken tikka masala, you know what this tastes like. Whole chunks of white meat chicken in a creamy tangy tomato sauce, topped in a perfectly blended cilanto mint yogurt chutney with chiles and a crispy slaw of apples, cabbage, carrots and mango in coconut milk. Tangy and creamy and spicy and sweet and sour and you know how it goes.
But what stands out are the russet and sweet potato frites - so, yes, I had a burrito with a side of fries, it is possible - that, I shit you not, taste exactly like Rally's fries, so you know I'm a fan. And you know what they give you to dip 'em in? Not catsup, no. A pickled chutney aioli. So, again, tangy, creamy, spicy, yada yada yada.
They've got four locations and a truck in the Twin Cities. If there's one near you, go give them your money.
I have to go take a shit.
